Naomi Miller is an artist with a photography background whose abiding interest lies within her social interactions with her friends and family members. She believes these discussions, shared experiences and emotions, and inevitable conflicts measure her engagement with the world. Her recent projects formalize this interest by creating platforms that solicit a broader, public engagement, as in her collaborative project The Work Office (TWO) with Katarina Jerinic, in which artists and others are employed to make artwork, similar to the way the U.S. government’s Works Progress Administration (WPA) did in the 1930s. TWO will open again in October 2011 with support from The Times Square Alliance. Naomi received her BA in English and studio art at Clark University, Worcester, MA and her MFA in photography San Francisco Art Institute. She lives in Brooklyn, NY.

Iron Maiden Artist Tours

While at The Wassaic Project Residency, Naomi Miller developed Iron Maiden Artist Tours (IMAT), an experiential collaboration with other artists in which her 1978 Volvo station wagon is used to host events and discourse. Passengers purchase tickets to join a tour, thus providing a self-sustaining economy for the vehicle. The first season of these tours ran during the spring of 2011, which included artists with backgrounds in architecture, filmmaking, conceptual art, and library sciences.
