Heather Metal Parking Lot

Heather Metal Parking Lot 2017

In the summer of 2014, a few residents threw the dark comedy Heathers (1988) and the documentary Heavy Metal Parking Lot (1986) into a (heavy, metal) cauldron and stirred. It's a night of pickup truck pig roasts, beer pong, free tattoos, macabre films, DJs, art installations, death portraits, and truckloads of firewood and alcohol.

2017's iteration featured screenwriter-in-residence Lauren Wolkstein’s film The Strange Ones, followed up with a talk by Jon Weiderhorn, a veteran rock journalist who has worked on staff at Rolling Stone, MTV.com, and Guitar magazines, and Revolver. He's also the author of Louder than Hell: The Definitive Oral History of Metal, and co-author of Ministry: The Lost Gospels According to Al Jourgensen, I’m the Man: The Story of that Guy From Anthrax, and My Riot: Agnostic Front, Grit, Guts & Glory. Not an event to be missed.
