Heather Metal Parking Lot V
The Wassaic Project is pleased to present Heather Metal Parking Lot V (HMPLV) on July 21st at the Luther Barn. HMPL was founded by former Wassaic Project artists-in-residence Sean Fader, Chris Held, Roxanne Jackson, and Mitch Miller to celebrate the cultural impacts of heavy metal. Now celebrating its fifth year, HMPL will feature a traditional pig roast, massive bonfire, artist projects and films, tattoos, metal manicures, artist designed t-shirts, ice cold beer, making out in the woods with a stranger, camping, a sweet hangover, and of course, some loud-ass heavy metal!
During the summer of 2014, five residents of the Wassaic Project organized a metal themed field party drawing inspiration from the dark comedy Heathers (1988) and the documentary Heavy Metal Parking Lot (1986). This event would become somewhat infamous. In the years that followed, the party steadily grew to include spit roasted pig, event-specific tattoos, and collaborative artist projects, films, and performances that now feature multiple generations of Wassaic Project artists-in-residence.
Tickets must be purchased in advance.
