5:30–6 PM: Daniel Carello and Chris May, Implied Motion, 2025
Implied Motion is a documentary featuring Wassaic resident Daniel Carello. Carello is an artist and unicyclist, and looks into his past and toward his future and finds balance in art, family, and the lines that connect it all.
6–6:30 PM: Q&A with Daniel Carello and Chris May, moderated by Jeff Palfini
6:30–8 PM: Michael Litwak, Molli and Max in the Future, 2023
“Molli and Max in the Future” takes the character-driven romance of a movie like "When Harry Met Sally" and combines it with an everything-but-the-kitchen-sink sci-fi universe like “Futurama.” Old-school practical effects (hand-built miniatures, and rear-projection) combine with cutting edge technology (Unreal Engine and LED Volumes) to create a universe like no other. Tentacles! Robots! Glorp!
8 PM: Q&A with Michael Litwak, moderated by Jeff Palfini
About the Speakers
Daniel “DAZ” Carello is a New York-based multidisciplinary artist and muralist whose work bridges the raw energy of 1980s street culture with contemporary pictorial abstraction. Emerging from the New Rochelle graffiti scene, Carello has developed a distinctive visual language he describes as post‑graffiti, characterized by vibrant geometric forms, intricate layering, and an expressive balance between structure and improvisation.
In addition to his studio and public art practice, Carello has been a longstanding advocate for the arts community. In the late 1990s and early 2000s, he worked extensively as an independent curator. During this period, he founded Rome Arts, a Brooklyn-based gallery dedicated to providing emerging artists with a platform for visibility and collaboration.
Carello earned a BFA degree in Fine Art from the School of Visual Arts & an MFA degree in Art Education from the College of New Rochelle. His formal academic training, combined with his deep roots in graffiti culture, has informed his approach to large-scale murals and installations. His work has been featured in public and institutional contexts, including projects with the Wassaic Project and ArtsWestchester, where he explores the relationship between public space and private expression.
Collaboration remains central to Carello’s practice. He frequently integrates visual art with live performance, expanding the boundaries of traditional exhibition formats. In April 2026, he completed a residency at the Banksy Museum in New York City, where he performed live creative sets in collaboration with the ETHEL string quartet. He currently curates WITH DRIPS, an ongoing platform connecting street culture with contemporary fine art.
Chris May is a cinematographer and photographer based in upstate New York. Born in Wyoming and raised in Missouri, he spent the second part of his life in New York as a musician, writer, photographer, and videographer. He has a degree in journalism and creative writing.
Michael Lukk Litkwak is an award-winning filmmaker and ‘New Yorker’ cartoonist who was born and raised in Los Angeles. He likes to tell character-driven stories that embrace the absurd, often through a lens of classic genre filmmaking. His first feature was ‘MOLLI AND MAX IN THE FUTURE’, a sci-fi Romantic-Comedy often described as ‘When Harry Met Sally’ in space. ‘MOLLI AND MAX’ had its world premiere at SXSW 2023, was Certified Fresh (w/ 98%) on Rotten Tomatoes, and became a NYT Critic’s Pick after being released in theaters. You can find all of his work at www.michaellitwak.com
Jeff Palfini is the co-founder of Boondocks Film Society, an upstate pop-up film event series that pairs films with interesting venues, and brings in themed elements like soundtrack-inspired live music from area bands, chef-created film-inspired food, and movie-themed cocktails, as well as Q&As with people involved in the films and an artist-designed commemorative poster. Boondocks is going into its 10th season and has shown upwards of 90 films from silent films with live scores to Czech New Wave to '90s indies.
